About Himal
Himal McCarthy (he/they) is an artist whose journey has brought him from the mountains of Nepal, to the depths of the Pacific ocean. As an actor, visual artist, and storyteller, Himal bears his heart for all to witness and willing to listen. He has performed twice as a blind prophet in the titular roles of Tiresius, from the UCLA’s school of Theater Film and Television production of Antigone, and the Earl of Gloucester of King Lear, from UCLA’s Shakespeare co. In addition, Himal has literally grown up on stage as the leading character of Elias in Charlie, a new work Undergrad One Act by Jacob Cherry. Himal’s passion for devising works shone with his involvement in curating The Tennessee Williams Project; which merged the worlds of multiple plays and featured him in the leading role of Tom Wingfield. Filmed during Quarantine, Ghost of You by Chloe Xtina is a project Himal is ecstatic to have worked on. This year Himal continues to devise work with the goal to generate empathy for the environment, as a continued response to an ancient prophecy thrust upon him at the age of 7; which states that he must return 1000 years from now as an ambassador between land and sea for the oceanic civilization living in the Pacific Ocean, Pacifus.
